Welcome to Atlanta, Y'all!

On behalf of the Georgia Tech College of Design, I welcome you to PLPR Atlanta. This conference marks 20 years of academics and practitioners coming together, sharing and discussing their research and insights regarding planning, law, and property rights.
I’d also like to welcome you to Atlanta, Georgia. While this place is known for “Southern Hospitality,” our College views it as an education laboratory. It allows our students to see their lessons writ large: an impressive range of property types across scales just a short walk from campus; it's one of the country’s fastest growing mega-regions, home to emerging creative, high-tech industries as well as living with the legacy of racial and social strife; communities fighting for neighborhood preservation as well as radical reuse of outdated or abandoned public properties.
Notably, our metropolis is predominantly built by Georgia Tech graduates. From landmark developments in downtown and midtown, to the BeltLine, to massive parts of the planet's busiest airport, the College of Design's graduates have helped shape Atlanta's identity. The lessons learned from these iconic projects' establishment and use fuel our studios and classes.
Whether you are new to the PLPR community or a long-time member ready to learn about the latest in planning, law, and property rights, we are so pleased to have you join us in Atlanta and at Georgia Tech!
