The College of Design's definition of design is expansive and inclusive. Our College is disciplinarily very diverse – comprised of architects, planners, engineers, computer scientists, composers, musicians, social scientists, visual artists, and design professionals. Using methods of design, creativity, critical analysis, and technological innovation, we seek to address the most pressing problems facing humanity today. The College emphasizes human-centered design and conducts research on critical challenges like climate change, affordable housing, human health, artificial intelligence, economic inequality, and disability and accessibility.
This document lays out six goals that will guide the College of Design into the future. Pursuing and accomplishing these goals will strengthen our research, our service, our already incredibly talented student body. It will also enhance our impact on and standing in our disciplines, professions, and industries. But equally importantly, it will strengthen our community-engaged mission and deepen our interaction and impact in Atlanta and beyond. This plan builds upon and supports Georgia Tech’s commitment to Advancing Technology and Improving the Human Condition.
