Now Hiring: Chair of the School of Architecture

The College of Design at Georgia Institute of Technology invites nominations and applications for the Chair of the School of Architecture. We are seeking a strong academic leader who can fuse our strengths in building design and research into a national and internationally recognized center of excellence in design pedagogy for the 21st century.

The Chair is responsible for providing leadership in the intellectual, creative, and scholarly life of the School. The position will be a tenured faculty member with the rank of Professor or Associate Professor. The salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment is anticipated as early as July 1, 2022.

Requirements

Candidates must have a terminal degree in Architecture or a closely related field with a distinguished record of scholarly achievement that qualifies for a tenured position. Significant experience in academic or research administration is desirable. The successful candidate will have an outstanding record of scholarship or practice and be able to contribute to the teaching mission of the School. Additionally, the successful candidate will also maintain an active commitment to the profession and to the promotion of excellence in teaching and research and must have the ability to engage with the community and corporate leaders and work effectively with faculty, students, and administrators. Candidates must have a strong commitment to faculty/staff development, diversity and inclusion, and the promotion of collaboration and innovation.

The School of Architecture

The School of Architecture has 22 tenured/tenure-track faculty, along with a strong contingent of Professors of Practice and adjunct professors drawn from the practice community, outstanding students, and a large and supportive alumni base. The School is the largest of five schools within the College of Design. It offers a B.S. in Architecture, a professional Master of Architecture, a Ph.D. in Architecture, and several specialized M.S. degrees. The school has recognized strengths in Design Computation, Advanced Production, High Performance Building, Design and Health, and Urbanism.
