Channing Baker is a 4th-generation contractor and Pres. & CEO of Evolve Contractors, founded in 2022 at the Russell Innovation Ctr. for Entrepreneurs (RICE), and now operates in 3 states. A graduate of Morehouse (Applied Physics) and Ga Tech (Civil Eng.), previously working for Turner and FS360 Channing, brought 20+ yrs of construction experience to Evolve, where they have delivered 30+ commercial roofing projects for 17 clients totaling $10M+ and an addition $8M construction mgmt. with 100% client retention over the past 40 months. Evolve focuses on complex low-slope roofing, specializes in Electronic Leak Detection (ELD), and water-intrusion risk mitigation, supported by a technical staff that includes (3) GA Tech grads and a Certified Waterproofing Consultant (CWC). Key milestones include the firm’s first pro bono roof replacement for the Atlanta Business League (ABL)—the oldest minority business advocacy org. in the U.S.—along with projects at the Nat’l Ctr. for Civil & Human Rights (w/ Juneau), Chapel Hill HS (Gilbane), H.L. Green – SoDo Dev., and COSM (Atlanta’s first digital sports arena) at Centennial Yards/CIM Group. Channing serves on the ABL Board, chairs the Engagement Committee for the GA Tech Building Construction Advisory Board, leads quarterly entrepreneurship workshops, supports Construction Ready and Section 3 workforce with hands on training workshops, and is building a generational company with his children developing their passions—Reign Baker (photography) and Belle Baker (social media)—in continuation of the H.J. Russell legacy while building his own.
