Designing Robotic Futures

Special Speaker: Dr. Madeline Gannon

In our current golden age of robotics — robots are leaving the lab to live in the wild with us. While there is cause for much celebration and excitement within the robotics community, for the rest of society, the pace of this technological change is fueling our own anxieties for the future we are heading towards.

In this talk, Dr. Madeline Gannon, lead at Atonaton research studio, advocates for design as a uniquely positioned discipline to face these challenges. Through her work, she shows how a design-oriented approach to robotics can ask different questions of this incredible technology, and help us craft the futures we want, not futures we fear, with these machines.
