Founded by College of Architecture Professor Chuck Eastman in 2009, the Digital Building Laboratory (DBL) draws upon expertise and resources from multiple departments and colleges across Georgia Tech’s campus to:
1. Undertake strategic industry studies.
2. Provide test beds for development and prototyping new technologies.
3. Promote interdisciplinary education.
4. Promote collaborative research between university units and industries.
DBL’s work is supported by corporate memberships, research organizations and foundations, and conducted by 17 faculty and 12 funded students. The cross-collaborations and interdisciplinary nature of the Digital Building Laboratory are key features contributing to its success in developing and applying advanced technology and digital tools to drive design-construction and improve the performance of the building sector.
